A legacy gift can be provided through a will or living trust. Each person can specify in their will a portion or all of your assets to go to Meritan, and your arrangements may be changed at any time should your situation change for some reason. Legacy gifts can be designated to a specific use, including our endowment fund.
If you include Meritan in your estate plans, please let us know so that we may recognize your generosity.
As always, Meritan continues to encourage contacting your attorney or tax advisor on all matters relating to your estate. If you would like to leave a simple bequest of a percentage or remainder of your estate, we have provided a couple of examples that may be used below:
(Example Bequest of Residue) "I hereby leave all (or ________%) of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate, whether real or personal, to Meritan, located at 4700 Poplar Avenue, Suite 400, Memphis, TN 38117 for its general purposes and directives as determined by the current policies of Meritan."
(Example Specific Bequest) "I hereby leave Meritan, 4700 Poplar Avenue, Suite 400, Memphis, TN 38117 the sum of $______________ for general purposes and directives as determined by the current policies of Meritan."
