For people with limited vision, our therapists may be able to help you to maximize the use of remaining vision. This is a standardized therapy, paid by Medicare, and unique in Shelby County, TN.  Whether you or someone you love suffers from age related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, or other vision impairment, help is available. Meritan delivers health, social & support services for individuals and families living with the effects of aging, vision loss, blindness, and disabilities. And...we're finding families for children in need.

Meritan teaches people how to live with the Effects of Blindness.

Meritan teaches:

• Orientation & Mobility - knowing where you are, where you want to go and how to get there
• Handling daily activities - cooking, cleaning, laundry, using the phone, managing money...
• Braille - for safety, public places, reading, etc.

This service is critical to people of all ages.  We even work with the school systems.

Meritan also works with your local support group, "VISIONS."
