Congratulations to Meritan’s Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) CHOICES Sandata staff on your selection as a recipient for BlueCare’s Tablet Incentive Program (TIP) compliance recognition. For two months in a row, Meritan received a letter from BlueCare regarding their excitement about Meritan’s engagement and support for the compliance of their Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) process. As an acknowledgment of their appreciation and your outstanding performance and Tablet Devices usage, BlueCare presented these Certificate of Recognition.

As part of the recognition, we could choose only one employee to receive a nomination for an employee designation and award for their professionalism and support of Meritan’s compliance. Join in congratulating Candice Washington as the recipient.

Candice shows admirable appreciation and respect for others, their ideas, and their possessions. Candice meets individually with caregivers during orientation to prepare them to use the EVV system. She will meet with staff in their assigned client’s home to ensure they understand, use the EVV tablet and other methods to clock in and out, including BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). Candice also monitors the Sandata system to see who uses it to carry out their daily tasks. Candice holds staff and clients accountable to the agency’s policies and procedures. She encourages staff to report to management and follows up with both management and employee to confirm the communication.

The letters from BlueCare also state its most profound gratitude for Meritan helping to make Tennessee a great state and supporting the requirements of using the tablets as the first and preferred method for clocking in and clocking out.

Following the passage of the 21st Century Cures Act, Home Care Agencies must use the EVV system for all Medicaid-funded Personal Care Services. States or agencies that do not meet this requirement could face a steep monetary penalty. “This award signifies meeting the condition with 90% or more compliance for two months. It is a significant hurdle,” says CaSondra Amos, Vice President of HCBS. “Staff not using the device to clock in or out consistently or frequent client missed visits can plummet Meritan’s compliance rate well below the requirement, placing Meritan in a position for a penalty. Thank you, HCBS staff, for your service! I look forward to many more!”
