August Volunteers of the Month- Letters to Rose
Our volunteers for the month of August are Letters to Rose- Memphis Chapter. Michelle, Nina, Ella, Emma, Shenell, and Rian, who are officers of the Letters to Rose Memphis Chapter, reached out to Meritan to write letters for our seniors in our in-home personal care and home health programs.
Letters for Rose aims to reduce loneliness among elders during the COVID-19 pandemic by creating and distributing personalized letters, art, and donations for local nursing homes. Founded and staffed exclusively by high school student volunteers, with chapters in over 45 states, Letters for Rose creates community service, team-building, and leadership opportunities for its volunteers.
Some volunteers will also make beautiful artwork that the residents and seniors can cherish and keep forever. This will allow them to hear from an outside person while staying safe! The Letters to Rose project understands that residents are at high risk for COVID-19.
Letters to Rose organization is careful to ensure the safety and health of everyone. They aim to strengthen the community and to bring happiness in this harsh time. They know what not being around family saddens the elderly so they decided to find another option that is safe for everyone, and writing heartwarming letters was the best way to achieve this.
Thank you Letters to Rose Memphis for volunteering for Meritan and writing letters to our seniors! We appreciate you!
